The 11th edition of the Dubrovnik Winter Festival begins on November 30th and will last until January 6th, 2025. A rich musical, entertainment, gastronomic and children's program awaits all visitors to Dubrovnik during almost forty days that will dress the City in festive attire.
The Dubrovnik Winter Festival officially opens this Saturday, November 30, 2024 on Stradun, and a festive ceremony and the arrival of a colorful procession will mark the beginning with the inclusion of decorative holiday lighting and the glow of thousands of lights! Jelena Rozga's performance will make all visitors dance and warm up, and there will be no shortage of entertainment for all citizens and always dear guests. Throughout the entire duration of the festival, a rich musical, entertainment and gastronomic program will be held from week to week, offering a handful of magical events. As every year, special emphasis is placed on creative content for children and young people, and a special treat is the train and ice rinks in Lapad and Mokošica, which will bring together numerous little ones. The highlight is a spectacular New Year's Eve in the company of the famous Italian musician - Adelmo Fornaciari, better known as Zucchero, and on the craziest night, Tony Cetinski will also sing!
Stradun will still be the biggest star, and great musical names will take turns on the most beautiful stage. After the opening, the best Croatian and regional musicians will perform in the city during December: national star Sergej Ćetković, always great rockers Parni Valjak, currently the biggest young music stars Baby Lasagna and Grše, and the city streets will echo with the hits "Mamma mia" and "Rim Tim Tagi Dim"! In order to continue the tradition, a special sentiment will be caused by a concert dedicated to the late legendary Dubrovnik musician Milo Hrnić called Dobra večer, prijatelji, which will feature the following performers: Dražen Zečić, Tedi Spalato, Đani Stipaničev, Alen Nižetić, Iva Ajduković Marović, Bruna Oberan, Klapa Kaše, Klapa Ragusavecchia and Klapa Subrenum. For fans of rock and punk music, this year's program will feature a performance by the cult band Psihomodo Pop, and the fantastic young vocalist Matija Cvek will provide a great atmosphere on the eve of New Year's Eve. When we step into 2025, the last performance of this year's festival program will be given by Rišpet!
The magnificent Christmas concert of the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra under the direction of maestro Ivan Hut is traditionally held at the Valamar Lacroma hotel, and the orchestra will be accompanied by the 4 Tenors, Renata Sabljak, Marija Vidović and Choir Blasius. Tickets are on sale online from today via the platform https://www.ulaznice.hr/web/regular/32667372 and at the Tisak Media Center in Pile and at the KIC Luža. There are also the Dubrovnik public's favorite performances of the orchestra and the Lindjo band in the Church of the Little Brothers and in the theater, especially on the occasion of the holidays of St. Nicholas and the Day of the Defenders of Dubrovnik and St. Lucy.
The festival program with concerts and other content also includes Advent on Vojnović, and Maja Šuput will perform a day before the official opening of the DZF. In the coming weeks, numerous regional stars will take turns performing in front of the Student Dormitory, among whom Jole, Giuliano and Halid Bešlić stand out.
This year, the favorite children's programs are planned with special enthusiasm and joy, and fun and educational activities await visitors during the Colorful Winter in the Bay, in the parishes of the Presvetog Spasitel and Sveta Obitelj in the largest city settlement of Mokošica. The backbone of the program for the youngest is a series of events in Dubrovnik's cultural institutions, and there will be special workshops, exhibitions, Christmas concerts and theater performances! The North Pole Station, TIP TOP TUP, Dubrovnik Heritage and numerous other magical locations for all generations will open their doors to spice up the Advent days and the anticipation of Christmas and the New Year.
Along with folklore performances throughout Saturday mornings and carols for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, traditional songs will also be sung by the youngest workshop participants, and a series of free themed guided tours in the City in English and Croatian on the theme of carols has been organized.
The festival part for children opens with a gathering with Santa Claus from Lapland, and the programs continue from day to day, until the children's New Year's Eve on Stradun, with a performance by the ever-loving Ante Gelo band, Bruno Oberan and Ivo Ajduković Marović in a cheerful atmosphere that will ensure an unforgettable start to the New Year's celebration for the youngest generations!
The colorful Cake Party with a performance by Luka Nižetić, as well as the motto visit of Santa Claus on Stradun, has a humanitarian purpose, and so that there is no shortage of gastronomic specialties and traditional holiday delicacies, the Codfish Days are returning, organized by the Dubrovnik Tourist Board in cooperation with Dubrovnik caterers.
In order for as many people as possible to come to the Dubrovnik Winter Festival programs as easily as possible, the city administration has provided all citizens and guests with free transportation by Libertas buses on city and suburban lines operating in the Dubrovnik area, in the afternoon and night hours from 5 p.m. until the last departure. Also, the price of the DU Pass, a joint ticket to Dubrovnik's most important attractions, has been reduced from 35 to just 15 euros, followed by the price of the ticket to the city walls.
The City of Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board and the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, in cooperation with cultural institutions and public companies, are preparing a wide range of events for citizens and visitors of all ages.
